Wolverine (2011) Marvel's most-popular "X-Men" character goes to Japan, in more ways than one, in this 12-episode adventure inspired by the 1982 comic-book limited series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. The mutton-chopped mutant has graced the small screen in numerous animated incarnations, but never quite like this. Here, adamantium-clawed Logan travels to the land of the rising sun, where he battles the criminal underworld and superpowered enemies to save the love of his life, Mariko Yashida. Like most anime, "Wolverine" is violent and boasts lushly detailed backgrounds, but you get stylized, choppy action and so-so dubbing in return. That being said, it's still the type of animation best suited for this character's grim and gritty undertakings.
